PSIFF PREMIERE CANCELED
Palm Springs, CA — The premiere of You’re No Indian, originally scheduled to debut at the Palm Springs International Film Festival, has been unexpectedly canceled by festival organizers.
The decision, made without mutual agreement, has left the filmmakers disappointed but remain resolute in their commitment to shed light on the issue of disenrollment with audiences.
“We were honored to be selected for the Palm Springs International Film Festival, and heartbroken by this unexpected cancellation,” said Ryan Flynn, the film’s director. “You’re No Indian tackles a critical issue that affects Native American communities, and this cancellation only underscores the challenges of bringing these stories to light. Nevertheless, the message of this film will not be silenced, and we remain committed to sharing it with the world.”
The film exposes the devastating and often hidden realities of tribal disenrollment, including corruption within tribal and federal leadership, the exhumation of ancestors for DNA testing, and the struggles of individuals to navigate the complexities of identity and sovereignty.
Despite this setback, the filmmakers are determined to find an alternative platform to premiere the film and to continue their mission of sparking dialogue on this urgent issue.
